So I've been seeing a lot of pictures on instagram etc. of people with negative space nail art. At first I wasn't quite sure if I liked it or not but after trying out a few patterns it grew on me and now I think it looks pretty cool. I also recently purchased a matte top coat so i decided to test that out as we'll, and I'm amazed at how fast it drys compared to regular top coat. Sorry that its not that neat, i was only testing out patterns so they are bit smudged and chipped!!
For the first pattern I used a BarryM nail paint in 304 mint green and painted it over half my nails. I then used a black polish with a thin brush from Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique, to line the gap left at the base of the nail. I feel like I should have stopped there and that I ruined it a bit by adding the line around the rest of the nail and and the matte top coat.
cheesy selfie alert!!!!
For the second look first I decided to choose a simpler design.
First I covered the part of my nails that i didn't want the varnish to go on with tape.
I then painted my nails with BarryM nail paint in 47 black.
After that had dried i peeled off the tape.
And then I went over the whole nail with the BarryM matte top coat.
I tidied the edges up a little bit and voila!
simple!
Hope you found this sort of tutorial thingy useful in some way. Why not go and try your own negative space creations. Love Becca xxx
